Experience behind the guidance

Compliance viewed from more than one side.

Jeremy Croft brings more than 20 years of commercial vehicle safety experience to Fleet Safety Advisors. His background includes ten years with the Florida Highway Patrol in Commercial Vehicle Enforcement and more than a decade as an FMCSA Safety Investigator conducting federal compliance investigations.

His later work in insurance safety management added the carrier-risk perspective: how roadside results, crashes, records, and everyday operational decisions connect. Fleet Safety Advisors serves motor carriers throughout the Charlotte, North Carolina area.

Common areas of concern

Where motor carriers often need clarity.

The subjects below are examples of the DOT and FMCSA compliance issues Jeremy has worked with throughout his career. The right starting point depends on the carrier's operation, records, and circumstances.

01

FMCSA audit and investigation readiness

Understanding what records may be requested, how those records connect, and where the operation may need a closer review.

02

Driver qualification records

Looking beyond whether a file appears complete to consider whether the qualification and monitoring process is actually working.

03

Hours of service and ELD records

Reviewing recurring log issues, unassigned driving, personal conveyance, edits, and the operational patterns behind them.

04

Vehicle maintenance documentation

Connecting inspection, repair, and preventive-maintenance records with the defects appearing during roadside inspections.

05

Roadside inspection performance

Making sense of violation trends and identifying what the data may be revealing about training, supervision, or operations.

06

Corrective-action planning

Turning an identified problem into a practical response that can be explained, documented, and followed over time.
